118.) Summer in fits and starts

I have a temporary solution to the early summer sunsets - work at night so I can go kite during the day! Of course the wind has been so bad it is mostly work during the day and work at night too. But occasionally it gets up.

Those are the charming highrises of "Su'furs Paradise" back there. The big city round here. Someday I'll do a "downwinder" to there and bus it back. Not today - wrong wind direction!

The wind is really fickle. It will be up a bit in the morning and then fall off. Back up in the afternoon. So Monday I buzz over, and as I get out of the car I look up to watch a kite and miss the curb - as I "tread air" trying to find some ground, I catch my toe on the curb and rip off a big chunk of skin...kind of a large bit...

The wind is the best in days, it is sunny, the water is warm. The forecast for the rest of the week is crap. As I sit here in the grass, foot elevated, watching my toe drip, drip, drip, I cannot believe I just did that. I do not believe in omens, I do not believe that happened for a reason...

I am about to go home ..then I find a roll of tape in car. Many winding later the toe stops hurting. As long as I don't have to bend it...So, I go and stand in the salt water - the sting is not too bad. Opps, blood seeping through. Hmm....

Well OK, here is the plan. Stay inside the shark nets..that’ll be safe. (ha, ha, ha)... stay in the shallows, go fast, don't fall. Do really big jumps - that will confuse them. Not likely any really big chomper can follow me. Not for very long anyway.

I don't think....

Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall....

The towers at Burleigh head to the South.

Odd bubble patterns - or creatures of the deep.

OK... Maybe a slight problem with the tape over the bleeding toe.....

go fast, big jumps, don't fall...

Perhaps a good time to call it a day...

Go the jungle, take photos of trees, they don't move. But its its damn dark and hot and humid.

Of course our one and only favorite cat is also trying to beat the summer heat. She still enjoys getting tangled in the chair for some reason....
